Do You Know ?

"First of all, know that you don't know.
Then, at least you know that you don't know.
If you don't even know that you don't know,
then you will go away without knowing that
you don't know what you don't know !"

Moving On

Finally after a super long long wait, two of my division colleagues dream came true. They are finally leaving their hectic environment and joining my department. I'm so happy for them. After all this years of hard work and never ending duties, it's time to take a step back and let the younger and fresher new blood to do the job. It's still serving the member of public though, albeit through a different perspective. It's very scary to venture into a new territory with so much unknown but no venture no gain. It's just a matter of letting go but not forgetting the past and accepting new future.

9 years have passed since the start of this NPC system. Many have come and gone. Some resigned, other transferred out while some fall victim to reshuffle. New faces surfaced. Most of the pioneers are no longer there.....haiz. This is the inevitable changes which everyone faces. Moving on to a newer pasture while remembering and treasured the past memories..............

Since my days in NPC, i have been patronizing a particular salon in TPY. In a blink, 7 or 8 years have passed. Going there is more like a gathering than having a hair-cut. There was so much fun and laughter. Maybe it's partly due to my job. Even when my regular stylist resigned and went back to Malaysia, i stayed on. However, things started to change. During my last few visit, i realized more and more staff are resigning. In came new faces which doesn't seem so friendly. The salon had also been partially renovated. It's very similar to those salons you saw in town area. From the conversation with my stylist, i learnt that the ownership of the salon had changed hand. No wonder the new faces & the renovation.......

The friendly and warm atmosphere is gone. I feel so uptight and uneasy. I wanted to leave the place and search for a new salon but my stylist persuaded me to stay on. I stayed but the uneasiness is still there. All went well until one particular visit when i learned that my stylist had also resigned and went back to Malaysia due to family matters. The owner also will be shifting his business to town area as he wanted a upper class image for his salon. Needless to say, the price will also increase.

This is the first time i encounter such situation. Travel all the way to town and paying top dollars for a haircut ? It's not my cup of tea. I will still patronize the new salon though cos my haircut package has not been used up. Meantime, i will have to start looking for a new salon which suits my need.......

Killing Creativity Softly.........

I really don't understand what the hype about the vandalized Singpost mailbox is about. Singpost spokesman already admitted that it's a mistake on their part for failing to inform the relevant authorities and the SPF had informed the public that it will deal directly with Singpost. Yet, it seems that people are still talking about it in newspaper forum, online forum...etc. Nobody was hurt and no property was damaged other than the mailbox. So, what was the fuss about ? The best part was someone even filmed the mystery man in action but took no action to call the Police ! What the hell.....What's wrong with Singaporeans ?? Seems like taking videos and photographs and posting it in blog or forum is the 'in' thing rather than taking immediate action. Don't be surprise to see people taking photographs or videos of a crime in progress or accident, rather than immediate action. It's not the 'in' thing to call Police !

Remember the OCBC advertisement whereby the bank staffs surprise the customer with a cake when she went to do some banking on her birthday ? Well, one particular 'smart aleck' decided to 'monkey see monkey do'..........

This blogger goes by the nick of 'Kitchen Tigress' aka 'KT'. On her birhtday, she went to a particular OCBC bank, did some banking and requested for a birthday cake as in the advertisement. The staff tried to explain that in the advert, it's the staffs who surprised the customer and not the other way round. Anyway, the advert didn't commit that it will be giving out birthday cake to customers on their birthday. In the end, the duty manager had to fork out his own money and got a hello kitty cake just to appease this blogger. The blogger went back happily and post her encounter in her blog. She had also wrote in to OCBC, explaining the situation and hope its management can reimburse the manager.

I don't know what this blogger is trying to prove and neither am i interested. I guess Singaporean are just too free and bored and simply having too much time to spend. If you ever wonder why the advert in Singapore is so routine and boring as compared to those advert clip you received in your email, don't blame 'MITA'. Blame those 'cooks' who spoil the broth !!

Pretty Woman

Anyone can guess who this pretty lady is ???

If you are a Formula One fan, you would have guess it. She is Jessica Celeste Michibata, the girlfriend of Formula One 2009 Champion, Jensen Button.

She is of Japanese-Argentine origin and a model. She has this 'girl-next-door' type look and she look even more stunning when doing the photo shoots. If you have a girlfriend like her, what more can you ask for ?? Enjoy her photos and standby some tissue in case your nose bled..........

Desperate Measures

Well, it seems like the telco battle has somehow effected Starhub. I have so far received two offers from Starhub to sign a new contract with them. The first offer was made before the announcement of the winner of the broadcast rights; seems like Starhub already knew the outcome. Then, it was offering me a free residential phone line for at least a year. I was tempted and took up the offer but man propose, god dispose. My current residential phone line is under my father's name and my brother then was using Singnet broadband and had a contract.

The second offer came recently. Starhub offer me a free internet modem and subscription + a free SCV channel for one year. Again, i was tempted and took up the offer. The customer officer then told me that the modem will be send to me on the following saturday. However, i had second thought after hanging up the phone and the following day, i called up the customer service to cancel the offer. The customer whom i spoke to told me he will revert my request to the sales officer concerned. As you all would have guessed it, the communication breaks down and the modem was send to me. I briefed the delivery guy and subsequently rejected the offer.

The reason for rejecting the offer ? Well, it's definitely too early to commit myself and the offer doesn't seems tempting enough. The new broadcast rights start in Aug 2010 and i believe the offer from Starhub will get better as the dateline draws nearer. I will just wait and see. No harm done even if i don' sign a new contract. The ball is in my court........

All I Want For Christmas Is.................

WISHING EVERYONE A MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS......HO...HO....HO

Movie Review

Avatar - I would say that this is my very first 3D movie since i last watch it at the science centre during my school days. It's really fascinating when the movie comes alive. Everything seems so real. A bit of discomfort though in the beginning of the movie. I needed some time to adjust to the 3D view. Story wise, it's about human vs the blue alien beings with tails. However, this time round, human is the aggressor. Expect quite a few battle scenes.

I didn't know how much the tickets cost as i got free tickets to the movie preview. However, i certainly think it's value for money. I enjoyed the movie.

Rating: 5 stars out of 5
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Storm Warriors - The movie is too draggy. The first movie is much more better. The 2 female casts are simply 'flower vases' and they lack credibility for their roles. Unless you have watched the tv drama or comic of storm warriors, you would be left clueless about how some of the characters came about. The visual effects are quite good but i personally feel that there are too many slow motion effects.

One big turn-off is that too much romance is injected into this movie. It takes out the 'heroism' in the character. From the ending, it seems like there will be a part three.

Rating: 2 stars out of 5. Wait for the dvd instead. Don't waste the money.
